Day 2 in Sevilla: Tickets, Art Museum, and the Cathedral

We woke up a little later than usual
And went across the street to a place called Rodilla for some pretty cheap breakfast/lunch. After that we walked to a place Rick Steves recommended we see a Flamenco show and bought tickets for Saturday. We hadn't bought our bus tickets to madrid yet so walked along the Guadalquivir River to the bus station and got those. We decided to go to the art museum, El Museu de Bellas Artes, which was near the station. We got in for free since were students which was good since we weren't blown away by the collection. The paintings were mostly by Spanish artists who are not well known outside of the country such as Murillo and Zurbaran.

After that we walked to the cathedral which is europes third largest cathedral after saint peters and saint paul's in london and the largest gothic church in the world. It used to be a mosque when the moors controlled sevilla but all that is left of that now is the giralda bell tower and a courtyard next to the church called the court of the orange trees. The museum was pretty aweome. The tomb of chris columbus is in there.

Since it was still too early for dinner according to Spanish custom, we ordered tapas and a summer red wine called vino tinto del verano at a restaurant called La Sal. We had three tuna tapas which are their specialty and a steak and gnocci tapa. Everything was delicious.

We walked over the bridge to the other side of the river along a street called Calle Betis then came back to have dinner around 11. We ate a place called Pizzeria San Marco which is located in what used to be a moorish bath house in the middle ages. I got tortellini and Alison got ravioli, both very good. After that it was 12:30 and we were exhausted so headed to the hotel to pass out.
